This week I realized that we're in some serious need of organization. The current process is supposed to go something like this: Upon completion of the match, the officials from each game complete a game report. If a player is given a red card (dismissed), a supplemental page is included along with the initial game report, explaining the incident in detail. From this supplemental report, my team can decide on punitive actions. In practice, our team of four shares one email box, This email box is also used for score submissions, player of the game reports, and communication to and from members of our team to the soccer clubs. Digging through this email box on a weekly basis to hunt for supplemental reports is incredibly time consuming. To further complicate the process, some officials do not file their supplemental reports in a timely fashion, and some do not even submit their initial reports. So, not only do we need to dig through the various emails to find reports, we have to constantly check to see if the reports have come in, and harass the officials that have not submitted them.
As an operations executive in the financial services industry, organization is critical to my firm's success. So, this method of reporting is understandably driving me a bit bonkers. However, I suggested that our webmaster create an upload feature on the website, whereas the various reports can be uploaded, the routed to corresponding mailboxes (supplemental reports get routed to a red card box). That way, each of us can go into our designated boxes, find the match reports, and create our spreadsheets for the week's discipline meeting. They're looking into it, and hopefully we can implement this, otherwise it's going to be a long season.
